Steve Overland is a legend in his own lifetime. Is there anyone out there who is not familiar with his name? He has a history that goes way back into the late seventies, his first major recording was with the band “Wildlife” in 1980. After the demise of “Wildlife” Steve went on to form the cult British melodic rock band “FM”, a band that released many great albums throughout the eighties and nineties and more recently in 2013. Their popularity has always been at the forefront of British Hard Rock.

Steve originally teamed up with Escape Music to provide lead vocals for the Boston Tribute album (ESM 081), singing 'Amanda', one of the album highlights. Steve also joined forces with Steve Morris of “Heartland” fame to record the much acclaimed “Shadowman” albums “Land of the Living” (ESM 099) “Different Angles” (ESM127) “Ghost in the Mirror” (ESM179) Watching Over you (ESM224).

Steve has also fronted two releases by “The Ladder”, which is a dream come true for all fans of FM as the band is an extension of the great FM themselves. “Future Miracles” (ESM109) was welcome by fans old and new and it was hailed by many as the best album of 2004. More recently “Sacred”  (ESM149) is an album that hones the identity of “The Ladder”.

Let’s examine Steve’s first solo album “Break Away” (ESM170), this had fans divided as it was so much different from his work with FM, but many grew to love it as it was something different from the norm. Steve gave us a more classic approach to melodic rock with “Diamond Dealer” (ESM198), with great songs that have feeling and depth. The release “Epic” provided one of the best starts to 2014 you could possible want to wish for, and had contributions from Mike Slamer and Billy Greer of Kansas. “Radio Radio” is one of the most radio-friendly tracks you could ever wish to hear and so easy on the ears. It’s the quality of the songs and musicianship on this album that made it so special, it was always going to be difficult to surpass. However, here is Steve’s new recording “Contagious” which is better than ever before. Big production by Lars Chriss and superb song-writing are the order of the day, these latest offerings from Steve are beautifully executed and flow with finesse from beginning to end.

Steve Overland has just added another classic album to his roster, and it’s his best to date.

GHOST SHIP
(Music and Lyrics: Matt Smith)

Messenger of ages
Carried on the wings of second birth
Unto the silent secrets of the earth
Justice generation
Anthem for the sense of purpose we lost
We rise above and count the cost
We are the ones the others left behind
Breath of life from the four winds
Watch these bones of death now march again

Pay the piper
Here we go
Got a ticket for a one-way journey
Slay the viper
Come follow, even if you’re ordinary
There’s a place for you here
Raise the anchor
All aboard as the Captain calls His misfits
This Ghost Ship
Sets off to shake the world
Let’s go!

Cast off for the journey
Join us as we sail the open seas
Unto the great adventure—follow Me
All the world’s unwanted
Come aboard and leave your darkness behind
Desperate to count, redeem the time
We are the ghosts awakened to the light
Forged and branded in His name
Ancient workmanship before ordained

Pay the piper
Here we go
Got a ticket for a one-way journey
(There’s revolution in the air)
Slay the viper
Come follow, even if you’re ordinary
There’s a place for you here
(Though you were dead, come alive)
Raise the anchor
All aboard as the Captain calls His misfits
This Ghost Ship
Sets off to shake the world

Solo: Val

Pay the piper
Here we go
Got a ticket for a one-way journey
(There’s revolution in the air)
Slay the viper
Come follow, even if you’re ordinary
There’s a place for you here
(Though you were dead, come alive)
Raise the anchor
All aboard as the Captain calls His misfits
This Ghost Ship
Sets off to shake the world
Let’s go!

Formed in Melbourne, Australia in 2008 and centered around the Millis brothers Jules (Vocals) & Xavier (Keyboards) with Guitar virtuoso Enzo Almanzi. Raised on a healthy diet of 80’s Arena Rock and influenced by artists such as Survivor, Dokken, Night Ranger, White Sister & Giuffria.

In 2010 White Widdow stormed onto the Melodic Rock scene across the globe with the release of their self titled debut album, filled with swirling keyboards, blistering guitar playing and big choruses. The release of the debut was met by the press with rave reviews making it into Classic Rock Magazine's top 10 AOR albums for 2010. Hot on the heels of their debut, White Widdow quickly returned with their follow up release “Serenade” in September 2011. "Serenade" was heaped with praise by the press as one of the best albums in the genre of 2011, gaining 9/10 in both Classic Rock and Powerplay magazines and receiving a 94% on the coveted website melodicrock.com.

In support of "Serenade", White Widdow hit the road playing festivals and headlining club shows throughout Europe which saw them tour through Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Greece and England. Along the way performing at HEAT Festival (Germany) and Firefest (UK). This was followed in 2012 with a full tour of the UK as support band to English melodic rock band TEN.

After the unfortunate death of drummer George Kristy in 2013 and the departure of original bass player Trent Wilson, the Millis brothers and Almanzi regrouped with a rejuvenated new line up, featuring Ben Webster on Bass and Noel Tenny on Drums. The new line up released their third album “Crossfire” in late 2014, the album was met with much critical and fan acclaim receiving 8/10 in Classic Rock magazine, 9/10 in Powerplay magazine, 9/10 in Sweden Rock Magazine and 93% from melodicrock.com.

In support of “Crossfire”, White Widdow returned to tour the UK and Greece, as well as performing in Spain for the first time in 2015.

In early 2016 the Millis brothers began writing for what would become White Widdow’s fourth album “Silhouette”, setting out to capture the mid to late 80’s AOR sound, even more so than on previous White Widdow albums. The Millis brothers also teaming up with Almanzi, Tenny and  Webster for some slightly more hard edged songs. The resulting album “Silhouete”, proving to be the best representation of the White Widdow sound so far, pure 80’s styled AOR, straight from the heart.
